After 33,000 miles over 4 years in our Class B van, named Lena, we think we are ready for something more. We have been planning a one-year trip with the route determined by average temperature. We think 70 degrees is a good temperature to travel by — not too hot; not too cold. We have been planning, preparing, upgrading, working through logistics, etc. The start date is somewhere around May 2022. Stay tuned for a “trial run” trip in January/February, heading south for a month, or so, to test our packing/planning abilities.

We love the Southwest!
…the crowning glory of America’s Arizona rock garden, the saguaro cactus. Supreme symbol of the Southwest, the saguaro is a giant among cacti, a 20- to 50-foot-high fluted column of chlorophylled plant flesh that comes in as many different shapes and sizes as human beings do. Like planted people, no two alike, individual and idiosyncratic, each saguaro has its own form, its own character, its own personality… When nobody else is around, I talk to them. ~Edward Abbey, “The Real Desert,” Cactus Country, 1973, Time Life Books, timelife.com
